Obituary of James "Jim" Malone

James “Jim” Joseph Malone, 86, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Promise Hospital. Jim was born in Vincennes, IN on April 5, 1930. He attended Hammond High, Hammond, IN and was the star baseball pitcher. After graduating in 1948, he joined the US Navy and served for four years on two aircraft carriers, the USS Wasp (CV-18) and the USS Midway (CV-41) where he worked in the boiler room to supply power to the ship. Following an honorable discharge, he returned home to work in the power generating industry retiring from AMOCO Refinery, Whiting, IN. After retirement, he moved with the love of his life, Mary Lee, to The Villages, FL where he enjoyed an active retirement lifestyle, regularly golfing and traveling. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and the Miami Dolphins.

His loving wife Mary Lee of The Villages survives him along with seven children and step-children: Patrick Malone (Penni McDaniel), Daniel (Janet) Malone, and Nancy Harris; Robert (Fran) Evans, Peggy (Jack) Hauer, Paula Evans (Tom Skopelja), and Julie (Gary) Cvitkovich; 17 Grandchildren and 17 Greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Irene and step-father Elmer “Bud” Daumer, sister Mar jean (O ‘Bryant) and his brother Ronald Daumer.

A Graveside Service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00am with Rev. Weldon deMeurers officiating.
